How to use the make 24 calculator
Type your four numbers, leave the target at 24, and select Find solutions. Each answer uses all four inputs once. Repeated values are separate numbers: 3, 3, 8, 8 uses both threes and both eights.
Why some answers use fractions
For 3, 3, 8, 8, try 8 ÷ (3 − 8 ÷ 3). First 8 ÷ 3 = 8/3, then 3 − 8/3 = 1/3, and finally 8 ÷ (1/3) = 24. The solver keeps these fractions exact.
Can every four-number puzzle make 24?
No. Some combinations have no solution with these four operations. Try 1, 1, 1, 1: even multiplying two sums only makes 4. Our playable puzzles are checked before they are dealt.
